Although it is widely believed that floaters are merely annoying and not dangerous, it is now know that eye floaters can actually lead to a retinal detachment.
For most people, eye floaters are barely noticeable mostly because they have very few of them. However, some people experience an abnormal quantity of floaters that might have been caused by vitreous syneresis or another underlying condition.
Eye floaters usually pull on the retina when the carrier does any sudden movements. For example, if one plays competitive sports such as soccer, any falls or sudden movements will lead to the eye floaters stuck in the vitreous to move to the sides and possibly pull on the retina.
Although this does not happen overnight, it's something to take into account. It's very important to have a good diet rich in Omega-3 in order to have healthy eyes and a strong retina. If you see any flashes of light, consult your doctor immediately as it might be sign of a more serious condition.
