Some people do not understand exactly what no win, no fee means. Many people think that it means they will have to pay nothing if they pursue a compensation claim. They are half right. Often the advertising makes it sound like you pay nothing, but it is likely that you will have to pay something.
For example, if you want to try for a no win no fee accident at work claim and you lose, then you will not have to pay your lawyer anything. However, if you win the case, then it is likely that you will. It is common for lawyers to ask for 30% of the compensation that you are awarded. However, you need not worry, because they will sort everything out with you beforehand, so there will be no hidden costs.
There are some lawyers that promise you will keep all of your compensation. This might be more appealing approach for you. If it is, then compare them to other lawyers. See whether you think that would offer you good value for money or whether they take their fees in some other way, rather than out of your compensation. Ask lots of questions so you are completely sure about everything, before you make any decision.
It is important to choose a lawyer that you trust to work hard for you and try their hardest to win the case. If this means paying them more money, then it could be worth it. You do not want to be left wondering whether you would have got a better result, had you chosen someone else. It could be a question that worries you for years to come and so this decision process is a very important one. Spend some time doing some research and then you will know that you have done the best you can.
