Pay Per Click is growing in popularity as a way of advertising on the Internet. It is unique in many ways and this is why it has grown with both large and small companies using it successfully.
Many online advertisements used to be annoying. They would appear on a page and interrupt what you were doing and distract you. There are still a certain amount of advertisements like this, but PPC ones are quite different.
The main places that they appear is on search engine results. There is a list of results generated by the search engine, but also some sponsored advertisements which appear in the side bar as well as above the search results.
Some people do not even notice that they are advertisements, thinking they are just part of the search results. Others are happy for them to be there because they are relevant to that keyword search that they have been doing.
These are popular with advertisers for these reasons as well - they tend to generate more traffic because they are targeted better - more specifically to potential customers. Advertisers can also choose how much they are prepared to spend on each click through. They only have to pay when a person clicks through the link in their advertisement which means that they can have numerous impressions of the advertisement and not have to pay for that.
The only real difficulty is monitoring the advert. This takes a lot of time and effort and is necessary because if it is not producing the sales required to pay for the advertising then you will be wasting your advertising revenue. Therefore some form of PPC Management must be in place to ensure a successful campaign. It is also important to stick to your advertising budget as it can be tempting to spend more money than you can afford and this could be extremely detrimental to your business.
