Graffiti seems to entice the younger generation, especially those from an ethnic background. They call it “art” others call it vandalism. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder – right? Not when it destroys both public and private property. Not when it intrudes on an otherwise, well defined landscape that someone else has already laid claim to as a pre-established work of “art”. I say to you, graffiti “doers” – respect your neighbors and their property. I love Banksy art as much as the next man, but artists need to respect property owners at the same time. As brothers in creativity who seek to express ourselves, let us agree to begin with respect. After all, isn’t that what you are really seeking? If we can agree to have a mutual respect for each other, your graffiti can be taken seriously and your true skills along with your expressions of brotherhood will be noticed in a different light. When you pick your canvass, use respect. Then, see how you can impress others.
